In 2020, during the first ‘lock down’ from Covid-19, Diana Platts (aka Jonas) wrote lyrics to this funny music video parody then recorded it while social distancing and partnered with a few film making pals all going stir crazy while stuck at home. Joining creative forces and hauling props, set/furniture up onto my backyard gazebo roof to dance, sing and bring you the new music video: So Fresh, So Clean, Pandemic Parody 2020. The lyrics were adapted from the original smash hit by Outkast a throw back to 2000 and the Atlanta-based rappers André “3000” Benjamin (formerly known as Dré) and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton. Twenty years this song never gets old! Updated to pay homage to the need to STAY FRESH AND CLEAN to stay alive, the song is in keeping with the cleaning motif/hygiene messaging bombarding us 24/7 and yet still requiring this creative boost to keep people safe and humming while adhering to the public health guidelines. It was performed over two days holidays while working from home (in lock down) it was designed to support Public Health Canada’s best practices and guidelines to stay safe (social distancing, hand hygiene) but it was also a labour of love intended to raise awareness and funds for the ACTORS FUND OF CANADA. The credit roll encourages donations for out of work actors due to the collapse of the entire cultural industry during the first three months when film sets and theatres suddenly went dark. No work, no auditions, no TV/MOWs, no commercials all closed. Please screen So Fresh, So Clean in its original glory then come back and check out this homage! Don’t forget to leave a comment and SHARE this fundraising video to support cultural workers in Canada. The back up lyrics are bilingual and encourage us all to “Stay SIX in the SIX” i.e say six feet away and social distance in Toronto (known as the ‘6’). Please consider donating to the ACTORS FUND OF CANADA: https://actorsfund.org/
